LONDON FASHION WEEK - PART 2 - INSPIRATIONS

"As a designer I try to ignore a lot, especially TV and fashion mags. But one thing that always inspires me, wherever I go in the world, is the way people wear things.
Ali Mapletoft, Age of Reason designer.

Like an ongoing relay,  high fashion filters down to the street, the street reinterprets,  and high fashion takes the baton again. The way people wear things is a great source of inspiration at Age of Reason, and it's not just scarves we look at.  Today at London Fashion Week it was all about colour and detail for us. We love exploring textures,  the way something is tied, the angle of a hat. What is hidden and what is revealed can also be key to how a look works. Here are some pics that give a flavour of what caught our eye at Somerset House.  We're not sure if it was our own use of neons for SS12 scarves that drew us to these glowing colours, but we loved the vibrancy.

LONDON FASHION WEEK PART 1 - ROSE TINTED

One of the greatest joys of any fashion week is people watching.  An even greater joy, seeing your own designs as worn by people.  Here are some pics napped by our LFW photographer, fashion journalism student/ blogger  Claudia Gilchriest. Claudia had an eye for dip-dyed hair and colourful outfits this LFW, with an emphasis on the cute and the unusual.

MATCHES LAUNCH NEON PINK PENNY PUG

We're thrilled to bits with Penny Pugs' latest incarnation in zingy neon pink and turquoise!
The oversized square pug scarf with our signature union jack background, and punk dog  comes in pure silk and measured 140x140 cm. The colour was inspired by a candy floss stall at a fair selling neon candy floss.

We sent one of these to super dooper model/ blogger/ illustrator/ artist Bip Ling and she said she lurrved it!

Matches, ever at the cutting edge,  are the first to launch these online and in their Ledbury road Matches
Spy store.  The long pug scarf measures a whopping 2 meters 12 cm, and is exclusive to them.
