Spring Summer 2012 Inspirations

Though it may seem a long way off, we are working away to bring you SS12. Here's a sneak preview of something that inspired us. But we are not going to give too much away here...because that would be telling.

Needless to say, Age of Reason takes inspiration from the old and the new. We love a bit of 18th century garb, and we like good yarn, and we love experimenting with strong colour after the soft muted tones of AW11. We will also be experimenting with different silks, of which there are many.

As long-time admirers of everything Coco de Mer, we are over the moon that our "Bondage Doll" scarves and exclusive "Orgy" scarves are now in-store at Monmouth Street.  The shop itself inspired the latter, and is the ideal home for a high end niche design like this.

We are proud of everything that Age of Reason represents as a brand: non-confonformity, strong ethics and high quality. We make our scarves in the UK,  and we never exploit anyone in the name of fashion. Coco de Mer owner Sam Roddick has been instrumental in inspiring Age of Reason as a label. She was behind us from the start, telling us to get on with it when we had doubts.  We only stock great shops with vision and integrity.

Flying the Flag for British Made

This is a photo by Brighton based photographer Poppy Berry, we think it says a lot about our Made in England credentials.  When it comes to producing fine silk scarves in the UK,  Age of Reason sticks to its guns with an ethos of “Never Exploit in the name of fashion.”  Despite the intense market pressures labels are under to cut costs by outsourcing to Asia,  for us Made in England means just that.

This great picture by a fella known as Dirty Roy has surfaced on Twitter. Andre on the right is wearing the very first Age of Reason sample ever made. And very punk he looks too.

We have recently been tweeting about the limited run of small dog scarves we are producing.  Inspired of course by Dotty and Penny, two pugs who have moddelled for us recently.  We will also be sending a scarf to Molly, the merry mog of Richard Weston Liberty's own scarf king.Watch this space for canine and feline luxury scarf news.  You can follow us on Twitter as @AgeofRScarves

Anarchy Dog Grey

Here's one of our faves, Anarchy Dog in Grey. Each Anarchy Dog is different with a punk style of their own. We were inspired by all the pugs in Brighton where we have a studio.
